SwingDance America, performed by a 12-member company, is a dance show featuring swing dance styles spanning three generations and including regional distinctions of the dance from all across the United States. The program highlights jitterbug, lindy, jive, Carolina shag and West coast swing, ranging from the roots of swing to today’s swing resurrection. It is a dance that generates both nostalgia and a desire to "get up and boogie." In SwingDance America, we see that swing lives, not only through big band music but through a wide variety of musical styles, from rhythm and blues to country western to today’s contemporary music. This show reflects the wealth of this diversity.
