The Civil War: The South Carolina Black Regiment is an all new musical production created to help young people fully appreciate the dramatic story of how black Americans gained the right to fight for their own freedom and that of their entire country during the nation’s Civil War.  The play brings to life the awe-inspiring actions of slaves who were not even legally allowed to read, yet they eventually helped to rewrite America’s history.

This musical adaptation of the classic children’s tale is true to story when Peter, the mischievous, independent adventurer wonders into the forbidden garden of Farmer McGregor.  The chase is on and Peter learns the hard way that, “It is better to be good than bad!”  Giant body puppets help tell this timeless tale.

Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra (COSO)
Grades 4-5
April 21, 2005 1:00 p.m. only

COSO, which is based in Delaware, OH, is an outstanding professional orchestra that performs in Gray Chapel on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus.  The group will perform short selections that will hold the interest of the students. This performance will also feature the Palace Wurlitzer organ as it mimics the sounds of each instrument in the symphony.
