Linking Arts with Education

We believe the arts are a powerful tool for educators and a powerful experience for students. By linking the arts and education, the Palace Theatre’s School Matinee Series exposes students to live performances that support curriculum content. The 2018-19 School Matinee Series underscores the importance of literacy, STEM, and behavioral concepts related to bullying, kindness, and relationships with family and peers. These concepts are presented in fun, musical productions performed by professional touring troupes. Students enjoy learning while being entertained in the area’s largest “classroom.” Additionally, teachers receive personalized study guides with each performance to implement in the classroom. For reservations please contact the School Matinee Coordinator (740) 383-2101 or tickets@marionpalace.org. Showtimes for each performance are 10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Admission is $3.50 per student and chaperone.

Grades PreK-4

“Lucy, Lucy, eats stinky food that puts us all in a big, bad mood!” How can Ralph be so mean, Lucy wonders? Lucy is one of a kind, and Ralph loves to point that out. Lucy’s defining moment comes when Ralph truly needs her help. Because she knows what she stands for, Lucy has the courage to make the right choice. This tasty new musical, based on the award-winning book by Maria Dismondy, empowers children, when faced with bullying, to always do the right thing and to be proud of themselves.
