Auditions for "Rent" – Join Us for Our Upcoming Season!

Are you ready to step into the vibrant world of "Rent" and bring this iconic musical to life? The Marion Palace Theatre invites all aspiring actors and performers to audition for our upcoming production directed by the talented Dustin Rawlins. This is your chance to shine on the main stage in a show that has touched hearts and inspired audiences around the world.


Audition Details:

- Date: Sunday, June 23

- Time: 1:00 PM

- Location: Palace Main Stage, 276 W Center St, Marion


What to Prepare:

- Sing 1 minute of a contemporary “pop rock” Broadway song (sheet music required; no CDs).

- Be prepared to read selected scenes from the script.

- Bring clothes and shoes suitable for dancing; changing facilities will be available if needed.


Roles to Cast:

- Mark Cohen: A struggling filmmaker and the show's narrator.

- Roger Davis: A musician and former drug addict who is HIV-positive.

- Mimi Marquez: An exotic dancer with HIV and Roger's love interest.

- Tom Collins: A philosopher and anarchist who is HIV-positive.

- Angel Dumott Schunard: A drag queen and street musician with HIV, and Tom's love interest.

- Maureen Johnson: A performance artist and Mark's ex-girlfriend.

- Joanne Jefferson: A lawyer and Maureen's current girlfriend.

- Benjamin "Benny" Coffin III: A former member of the group who has become their landlord and is seen as a sell-out by his friends.
