Have you ever wanted to perform in a musical that’s a little spooky, a little silly, and a whole lot of fun? Now’s your chance! The Marion Palace Theatre is holding open auditions for Beetlejuice Jr., our exciting fall youth production filled with music, mischief, and madcap characters.


Audition Details

  • Date: Sunday, August 10, 2025

  • Time: 1:00 PM

  • Ages: Open to performers 8 and up

  • Location: Marion Palace Theatre (276 W. Center St., Marion, OH)


What to Prepare


For Ensemble Roles:
  • You’ll participate in group singing and dancing

  • No solo prep required, but be ready to follow directions, move confidently, and sing with energy


For Lead or Featured Roles:
  • Prepare a one-minute solo (not from Beetlejuice Jr.)

  • Be ready to read from the script

  • A pianist will be provided — please bring sheet music (no recordings or CDs)


Dress in comfortable clothes and shoes that are easy to move in — you’ll be learning choreography as part of the audition!


Character Breakdown

Below is a simplified overview of the featured roles and ensemble characters in Beetlejuice Jr. — this can help you decide what role(s) you might want to audition for.


Featured Roles

Lydia Deetz - A smart, independent teen dealing with the loss of her mom. She’s brave, clever, and not easily spooked.

Beetlejuice - The wild, unpredictable, and hilarious ghost at the heart of the story. Big personality, physical comedy, and strong vocal presence.

Charles Deetz - Lydia’s well-meaning but overwhelmed father. He's trying to move on, even if Lydia isn’t.

Delia Schlimmer - Charles’s eccentric life coach girlfriend. Quirky, optimistic, and secretly insecure.

Barbara & Adam Maitland - A sweet, recently deceased couple trying to learn how to haunt their old house. Endearing, funny, and sincere.

Miss Argentina - Sassy Netherworld receptionist and former beauty queen. Leads a featured song.

Maxie & Maxine Dean - A wealthy businessman and his flashy wife — comical roles with featured moments.

Juno - Beetlejuice’s no-nonsense boss in the afterlife. Gravelly, tough, and commanding.

Otho - Delia’s spiritual guide and over-the-top guru. Fun comedic role.

Great opportunities for performers who love to sing, dance, and play wild characters!

  • Recently Deceased (funny ghost roles with quick lines and physical comedy)

  • Beetlejuice Clones

  • Movers, Lawyers, Girl Scouts, Priest, Mourners

  • Sandworm Ensemble

  • Dead Cheerleaders & Drill Team (great for dancers!)

  • Studio Audience (meta-theatrical fun!)


There are plenty of moments for the full ensemble to shine throughout the show!


Performance Dates

Mark your calendars — the production will take the stage for three thrilling performances:

  • Friday, October 3 at 7:00pm

  • Saturday, October 4 at 7:00pm

  • Sunday, October 5 at 2:00pm

This is a fantastic opportunity for young performers to share their talents with the community on the historic Marion Palace stage.

Box office will open 1 hour prior to all events. Please note that when the Box Office is open prior to an event, only tickets for that particular show are on sale.
