BIGGER, PLEASE! House Rules

Oct 1
3 min read

Meet the Oldest Girl in the Room

She's 98.

She's gorgeous.

She's dramatic.

She's seen some things.

And on October 17, she's letting a whole lot of us into her house.

The Marion Palace Theatre has been standing since 1928, and we'd really like to keep her around for another 98 years. So before we sing, dance, cry, make questionable decisions, and collectively lose our voices at BIGGER, PLEASE!, we have a few house rules.

Don't worry. They're pretty simple.

Love Her. Don't Take Her Home.

We know the BRUNCH, PLEASE! crowd has a... history... with décor.

Not this time, ladies.

If it belongs to the Palace, it stays at the Palace.

Décor. Signs. Frames. Fixtures. Historic pieces. Random things you suddenly decide would look AMAZING in your living room.

Look with your eyes. Take pictures with your phone. Leave everything else exactly where you found it.

We want you to leave with memories—not pieces of our 98-year-old building.

Dance Your Heart Out. On the Floor.

Stand. Dance. Sing. Wave your light wand. Live your absolute best life.

But do not stand, dance, climb, or jump on Theatre seats, armrests, railings, or anything else that was not designed to hold a dancing woman.

Seriously.

Guests who do not follow this rule will be removed from the event.

Please keep the aisles clear throughout the night, too. She's 98. Her aisles are staying exactly where they are.

The Stage Will Call You If It Wants You.

Could you end up on stage?

Absolutely.

Can you put yourself on stage?

Absolutely not.

Please do not enter the stage or any restricted area unless a member of the BIGGER, PLEASE! or Palace team specifically invites you.

Trust the process. Your main-character moment will find you.

Drink. Hydrate. Repeat Responsibly.

Guests 21+ who plan to purchase alcohol will have their IDs checked upon entry and receive a wristband.

There is a two-drink maximum per person, per transaction. Drinks are welcome inside the Theatre, and light concessions will also be available throughout the evening.

But hear us on this one: if you've had enough, we've had enough.

Our staff will not serve alcohol to anyone who appears intoxicated.

Drink the cocktail.

Drink the water.

HYDRATE.

You knew that was coming.

Keep It Cute.

We're putting a whole lot of women in one room.

Be kind.

Respect the people around you. Respect our staff and volunteers. Respect the performers. Respect the Palace.

Harassment, fighting, threatening behavior, excessive intoxication, intentionally damaging property, or behavior that puts you or anyone else at risk will not be part of the evening.

The Palace is also a smoke- and vape-free building. No vaping inside the Theatre or Pavilion.

Basically: have the night of your life without becoming the reason we have to make a new rule.

Some Doors Are Closed for a Reason.

During BIGGER, PLEASE!, guests are welcome in the Palace Theatre and Pavilion.

All other areas of our very large, very old building will be closed and secured.

If a door is locked, that's not the beginning of a side quest.

Leave it locked.

General Admission Means General Admission.

All seating for BIGGER, PLEASE! is general admission and first come, first served within your ticketed seating section.

There are no assigned seats.

Please be considerate of the hundreds of other women joining us for the evening and don't attempt to claim large sections of seats for guests who haven't arrived yet.

Need ADA-accessible seating or accommodations? Please contact the Marion Palace Theatre Box Office before the event so our team can help.

What CAN You Do?

Phones? Absolutely.

Pictures? Please.

Light-up sticks? YES.

The inflatable microphone and glasses you receive when you arrive? Obviously.

Sing too loudly. Dance badly. Make friends with strangers. Take a ridiculous number of pictures. Laugh until your face hurts. Cry if you need to.

This is BIGGER, PLEASE! You're not supposed to sit quietly and watch.

You're supposed to become part of it.

One Last Thing...

We're incredibly excited to welcome BIGGER, PLEASE! and all of you into this beautiful old building.

The Palace has been gathering people together for nearly a century. She's hosted movies, concerts, musicals, graduations, first dates, family traditions and more memories than we'll ever know.

On October 17, we get to add another one.

So come ready to sing.

Come ready to dance.

Come ready to laugh.

Come ready to meet people you didn't know you needed.

Take care of the oldest girl in the room, and she'll take care of us all night long.

And for the love of all things holy...

HYDRATE.
