Auditions Set for June 14th
The Palace Cultural Arts Association is excited to announce auditions for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical comedy Avenue Q, coming to the Marion Palace Theatre stage during the 2026-2027 season.
Packed with unforgettable songs, hilarious characters, and plenty of heart, Avenue Q is a wildly entertaining musical about growing up, finding your purpose, and navigating life’s ups and downs — all told with the help of puppets that are definitely not for children.
Directed by Dustin Rawlins, this production offers exciting opportunities for performers who love comedy, music, character work, and collaborative storytelling.

What to Prepare
Auditionees should prepare:
A one-minute vocal solo
Sheet music for the accompanist*
Be prepared to read from the script
*A pianist will be provided. Please bring printed sheet music. No recordings or CDs will be accepted.
About the Show
Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical, Avenue Q combines clever puppetry with sharp comedy and relatable real-life struggles. Set on a quirky New York City street, the show follows a group of young adults trying to figure out careers, relationships, identity, and purpose.
Funny, heartfelt, and refreshingly honest, Avenue Q has become one of the most beloved contemporary musicals performed around the world.

A reclusive creature obsessed with the internet. Puppet.

A confident, seductive vamp with a dangerous edge. Puppet.
The Bad Idea Bears
Two adorable troublemakers who encourage bad decisions. Puppets.
Mrs. T
Kate’s boss — elderly, cranky, and hilarious. Puppet.
Brian
A laid-back aspiring comedian.
Christmas Eve
Brian’s therapist fiancée who recently moved from Japan.
Gary Coleman
Yes, that Gary Coleman — now the apartment superintendent on Avenue Q.
New to Puppetry? Don’t Worry.
Many performers auditioning for Avenue Q may not have prior puppetry experience — and that’s okay. Strong character choices, comedic timing, vocal ability, and a willingness to collaborate are the most important qualities to bring into the audition room.
