Young Performers Wanted! Audition for the Marion Palace’s Junior Comedy

ree

The Marion Palace Theatre invites young actors ages 8+ to audition for this year’s junior play: Bringing Down the House — a laugh-out-loud comedy about big dreams, last-minute chaos, and a musical where the songs never actually get sung!

This fast-paced farce follows three hopeful creators trying to launch their new show before their theatre gets demolished. With surprise guests, protestors, politicians, and a demolition crew all crashing rehearsal, the result is an unpredictable, over-the-top stage comedy that celebrates the magic (and madness!) of live theatre.

Audition Details

Dates: Tuesday, January 7 & Wednesday, January 8

Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Location: Marion Palace Theatre Main Stage

(Attend just one day—no pre-registration required!)

What to Bring:

  • A memorised poem or monologue (30–60 seconds) to showcase your acting skills

  • Bring your energy, personality, and readiness to have fun.

  • Wear comfortable clothes for movement.

Who Should Audition:

This show features tons of named characters, offering fun, creative roles for performers of every experience level and personality type!

Here are just a few of the fun and memorable characters from Bringing Down the House:

  • Jules – A passionate and optimistic composer trying to keep the dream alive

  • Sydney – A sarcastic, pessimistic book writer who’s always expecting disaster

  • Karlee – A precocious and hilariously over-the-top child actor who needs to be in the show

  • Robin – The assistant director who’s sweet one minute and a total tyrant the next

  • Jerry – A jokester demolition worker who’s always cracking jokes at the wrong time

  • Mona – A flashy but clueless agent trying (and failing) to look important

  • Cameron – The uptight director trying to keep the production from falling apart

  • Glenda & Bernard – Pompous older actors with huge egos and long-winded stories

  • The Protesters – A zany group of activists who don’t quite know what they’re protesting

  • The Mayor – A publicity-hungry politician desperate for a photo op

  • Avery & Blake – Chorus members who think they should be the stars of the show

Whether you’re bold and dramatic or quiet and quirky, there’s a character with your name on it!

Rehearsals:

Rehearsals will be held three evenings a week from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. We know this is a busy time of year, and we do our best to accommodate other student activities and school schedules!
