Introducing the Marion Palace Chorus

Updated: Jun 26

Something beautiful is taking shape at the Marion Palace Theatre—and it starts with your voice.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Marion Palace Chorus, a brand-new, mixed-voice community choir for singers ages 12 and up. Whether you're a longtime vocalist or someone who just loves to sing, this chorus is for you.

A New Chorus, A New Chapter

Under the direction of Ryan Ratliff and with accompaniment by Kathy Hill, the Marion Palace Chorus (MPC) will gather Sunday evenings, biweekly, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in the Palace's May Pavilion.

Rehearsals begin this fall, and the season will run through May—culminating in a joyful concert in the spring of 2026. The chorus may also perform at Christmas at the Palace and other Marion-area events, but our core mission is simple: to create a welcoming space to sing, grow, and connect through music.

Who Can Join?

The MPC is open to anyone 12 years or older—yes, that includes 6th graders and adults of all ages! You don't need to be a professional, and you don't need to be perfect. You just need to love singing.

Auditions will be short and simple, held during the first rehearsal. They’ll last just 1–2 minutes and are used only for voice placement—not selection. Singers may bring sheet music (an accompanist will be provided), sing a familiar tune like This Land Is Your Land, or go a cappella.

Rehearsals & Commitment

Rehearsals: Sundays, biweekly, 6:30–8:00 PM

Location: May Pavilion at the Marion Palace Theatre Rehearsal

Dates for 2025–2026: Sept 7, 21 • Oct 5, 19 • Nov 9, 23, 30 • Jan 11, 25 • Feb 8, 22 • Mar 8, 22 • Apr 5, 19 • May 3

Cost: $40 for the full season (non-refundable). This covers your music and professional choral folder.

We ask singers to aim for no more than 3 absences—but we know life happens, and we’re here to support one another.

Do I Have to Perform?

We hope you will—but it’s not required.

While we encourage all singers to join in our performances, we understand that not everyone can or wants to. If you simply want to sing with us on Sunday evenings, you are absolutely welcome. The joy of singing is for everyone.

Why Join the Chorus?

Because music brings us together. Because voices in harmony heal and inspire. Because community matters. And because your voice—yes, yours—has something special to offer.

Whether you’ve missed choir since school or you’re looking for a new way to engage with the Palace, we invite you to be part of this first-ever chorus season.

How Do I Join?

Audition sign-ups and dates will be announced soon. Stay tuned here and on social media for the latest updates. All communication will be sent by Director Ryan Ratliff via his official Palace email (coming soon!).

The stage is set. The music is waiting. All that’s missing is you. Join the Marion Palace Chorus—because your voice belongs here.
